Mark Schwarz
Expert Meteorologist | Meteorological Integrity | MetService
Mark’s diverse role sees him involved in monitoring or developing internal forecast systems and standards at MetService, running training for external organisations, conducting funded research and designing or delivering consultancy services. On top of this, much of the past year has been spent lecturing in the joint Victoria University-MetService Masters of Meteorology programme.
His career as Meteorologist has been similarly extensive, with time as a bench forecaster, instructor and researcher, with a year spent in Sydney as Consultant, largely focused on the energy industry. More recently, he has conducted and presented research on the Auckland Anniversary Floods of 2023 and been part of investigations of Cyclone Gabrielle of the same year, focusing on future improvements to the Warning System. A passion for science is balanced by his desire for meaningful outcomes and good decision-making on the part of clients or society.
